Education and the arts have always been a cornerstone of Centenary United Methodist Church. We offer several
programs for children, youth, and adults, and our arts program offers instrumental and choral music, along with
visual and performing arts.
Although the Centenary congregation dates from 1799, the present building was completed in 1843 and served
as a hospital during the Civil War. Today, Centenary cooperates in the Downtown Community Ministry to meet the
unique needs of its urban setting. As part of its mission, Centenary provides emergency shelter, food, and
medical programs to those in need. In addition to its other ministries, the church relates to the city and to is
membership with outstanding programs in the arts throughout the year.
Our arts programming includes the visual and performing arts, as well as instrumental and choral music. We
feature hymn sings and Haydn, Big Gig and guitars, organ music and oratorios.
Come be a part of this exciting and lively spiritual community.
